Yeddo -- Wesley Corey, a retired Yeddo lumberman who would have been 86 next week died in a Danville, Ill. hospital Tuesday night two hours after he was taken there. He had been ill the past month. He was born Feb 12, 1879 and was a lifelong resident of Fountain County. On Jan 1, 1901 he married Harriet Rector and she preceded him in death July 23, 1958. Survivors include a son, Charles of Springville; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Sanders of Yeddo; a brother, Dan of Kingman; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons and two daughters. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Friday at the Portland Arch Christian Church where the body will lie in state beginning at 1 o'clock that afternoon, Rev. Allen Lehmann will be the minister, and burial will be in Portland Arch Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. -- kbz

Veedersburg - Funeral services for Wesley Corey, age 86, a resident of near Yeddo, who died Tuesday night, Feb. 2, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Portland Arch Christian Church, north of Covington. The Rev. Allen Lehmann, pastor of the Bethel Full Gospel Church of Covington, officiated and burial, with the Fishero Funeral Home in charge, was in the Portland Arch Cemetery. Mr. Corey, who had been in ill health one month at his home, succumbed two hours after he was admitted to the hospital. Ralph Sargent, Vermilion County, Ill., coroner, conducted an inquiry and attributed death to natural causes. He was born in Fountain County, Feb. 12, 1879, the son of Silas and Lavina Booe Corey. He was married to Harriet Rector Jan. 1, 1901 and she preceded him in death July 23, 1958. Survivors include: one son, Charles H. of Springville; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Sanders of Yeddo; one brother, Dan Corey of Kingman; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
